Structure Protection Crews
Keep your crews safer and deploy more sprinklers to more roofs in less time without using ladders or walking on roofs.
The Water Winger was developed to eliminate the challenges and safety concerns SPU crews face in getting sprinklers up high to wet the larger, more complicated roofs that are now often found in the growing Wildland Urban Interface zones.
“Just when our Fire Department implemented a policy of not going onto rooftops, the Water Winger came along. We can now deploy, in just a few minutes, a roof top sprinkler system from the ground. Excellent product.”
Lt. J. Jacobson
Wildland Fire Instructor, Salmon Arm, BC
How fast can Water Wingers be deployed?
Really Fast!
Typically 3-5 minutes with no risk to crews.
- 2-member teams can deploy this 3/4″ impact sprinkler, from the ground onto the roofs of typical 2-story houses in less than 5 minutes.
- Each highly mobile team member can carry 2 Water Wingers kits on shoulder straps keeping hands free.
- Save time and resources. One Winger pulled up to hard to get to central roof locations may be enough to wet all around common structures.
Why add Water Wingers to your inventory?
They are the safest option, versatile and effective.
Your crews will be able to put big sprinklers onto roofs out of the reach of ladders or where ladders aren’t able to be used safely.
Use just one Winger to cover what might take up to 4 smaller sprinklers mounted on gutters.
- Standard rigging covers the majority of structures up to 100′. Typical 2 story home size structures.
- Longer line packs available for structures over 100′ up and over.
- Use our Long Distance Chuckers with fishing reels attached for 150′ and more.
Where will you use the Water Wingers?
Be creative..
They can be pulled up onto almost anything!
- Large, steep, dangerous roofs and central roof locations are ideal candidates.
- Structures too dangerous or time-consuming to attempt to ladder.
Pull them onto high-value assets you couldn’t safely or easily get sprinklers onto any other way:
- 2-story homes
- Tall, steep roofs
- Large A-frames
- Fabric covered Quonset huts
- Large greenhouses
- Large tents
Stainless steel skis pull smoothly, without snagging, over shakes, shingles, clay tiles and metal roofs with or without gutters even fabric and heavy plastic coverings.
Industrial protection applications.
- Above ground fuel tanks.
- Aircraft, sawmill and farming equipment.
- Shipping containers.
- Log and wood chip piles
- Industrial equipment
Also…they won’t fall over when used on waterlogged or soft ground.
- They remain upright in soft conditions where spike sprinklers often fall over…muddy ground, sawdust piles soft ground and sand etc.
- Great for hillside setups. Set the mast angle where you want it to stay.
- Easy to pull from a distance to relocate since it doesn’t need to be spiked into the ground.
What is the coverage and water requirement?
- Wingers come fitted with Rain Bird® 30H 27° 3/4″ brass impact sprinklers with 2 nozzles installed, typically a 3/16” main and a 7/32″ or 1/8″ spreader/mister nozzle.
- Coverage is about a 50′ radius @ 50 PSI using 7-10 GPM. 50-80 PSI is ideal.
- Larger or smaller nozzles or heads can be installed to alter throw and flow.
Wingers reduce the possibility of water damage to structures.
- High angle 27° water stream from Wingers high on peaks, means water falls down, on and around structures like rain reducing the likelihood of water damage to buildings.
- High trajectory stream along with more placement options should eliminate the need and risk involved to cover vents or chimneys.
You will find the Water Winger worth every penny in function and peace of mind.
100% satisfaction guaranteed.
- Eliminate the risk of accidents related to climbing ladders and walking on roofs.
- Faster deployments and removals add up to lower labour costs.
- You will be able to put more sprinklers onto more roofs safely, with less effort and a short training cycle.
