You will need a “Y” to run 2 Water Wingers from one yard hydrant or tap.  Most Brass or plastic “Y”s from garden shops don’t flow enough water, due to their restrictive openings. To run 2 Wingers at full potential, you would use a High-Flow “Y” with large bore valves for the best performance.

You can build your own “Y” or purchase one of our pre-built, High-Flow options if you plan to run 2 Wingers from one source like you see in the video below. 

The High-Flow “Y” can have 1 or 2 valves.

1 valve to control 2 Wingers:

2 valves to independently control your 2 Wingers:

2 valves is the most versatile option to give you independent control over how much water goes to each Water Winger.  This better balances your water output between Wingers when not using a Full Loop Hose Lay completely around your building.

Water may not flow equally between 2 Wingers depending on the hose length or height differences, or you may want 1 Winger to throw more or less than the other.

As in this video, if your yard hydrant is a distance away, it is best to run a 3/4″ feeder hose to your High Flow “Y” for your 2 Water Wingers.

These 2 Water Wingers are running from 1 yard tap from a well @ 60 PSI @ 18 GPM.

30 minutes will soak a large area.  You do not need to run your system continuously.  Run time will vary depending on heat, wind and how close the fire is.

You will need around 14 – 18 GPM to run 2 Water Wingers @ 50 PSI to get maximum coverage.

The included mister port plugs can be used to plug the mister nozzle ports to maintain a long throw with less pressure. (See chart below)

Also, smaller or larger nozzles can be purchased to tune your Wingers to your water supply.      Shop Nozzles  

If your yard tap is not putting out enough water, a plumber can often install an independent irrigation line with less restriction for maximum coverage.

Well pumps usually have an adjustable pressure regulator that you can turn up to increase the pressure for structure protection systems when required.

If you will be evacuated, a system you have already set up like this, is easier for fire crews to keep running, either from your supply or if they decide to connect it to their high pressure pumps.  Having your own structure protection already set up gives you the best chance your home will be protected.
